Kicking Diabetes Ass and WIAW

I had an amazing, amazing run this morning!
A run SO fabulous, it made me forget about my last 48 hours.
Diabetes can act just like a toddler sometimes.
Sweet, nice and following the rules one minute, then the mood swings begin and the stubbornness starts.
All of this means little sleep for me while dealing with fluctuating blood sugar numbers, the tiring highs and the scary lows.
I may have screamed “I hate you diabetes” at the top of my lungs once twice…
and
I may have cried twice four times yesterday…
and
I may have yelled at my husband once twice.
Sometimes this stupid disease does whatever it wants…
I didn’t do anything different, eat anything different, etc…
Sometimes your body just goes nuts.
So, my 5 mile tempo run was originally scheduled for yesterday
Obviously, that wasn’t going to happen with a belly full of glucose gels and 3 hours sleep.
So, I ran the 2 scheduled for today yesterday, crossed my fingers and went to bed last night at 9:30.
I woke up 15 minutes before the alarm –> great start, got dressed and headed out with the hubby.
I knew after mile 1, I felt good.
I had no idea I felt that good.
All of my “poor-me” mentality was gone…
I kicked diabetes ass this morning.
One day at a time…
And today is a GREAT day!

Peas and Crayons

Let’s see what I ate yesterday shall we?!?
When you have to consume glucose at 4am to prevent a low blood sugar…
Well, you don’t exactly feel fantastic in the morning or hungry.
Thanks to my Daily Mile peeps, they encouraged me to get outside and run a quick 2.
I felt a million times better after that…

Simple and beautiful and always makes me smile.

A couple more of my favorites – flowers for no reason, a great bottle of wine and traveling to a new place
